August 2024 - WAVE and Virginia Villages Collective Collaborate to Research Sponsored Village Model

With support from the Virginia Villages Collective (VVC), in August 2024, WAVE received a grant for $10,000 to research Villages that have started under the auspices of sponsoring organizations (e.g., AAAs, senior centers, life care communities, HOAs, faith-based groups). Research shows that Villages started in association with an established entity require less time, effort and cost to launch. WAVE, working in collaboration with VVC, will investigate how these sponsorships came about, how well they work, and factors to consider in starting a Village using this model.  The research will begin in September and take four to six months.

June 2024 - WAVE and Virginia Villages Collective Sign MOU

In June 2024, WAVE and the Virginia Villages Collective (VVC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate to promote the development of Villages in Virginia. VVC will continue to build a network of connections with organizations and leaders in the aging-services network, recruit Village sponsors, and seek funding to foster the growth of existing Villages and the formation of new Villages in the state.WAVE will collaborate with VVC to prepare funding requests and grant applications as well as provide financial management of funds received for Village development in Virginia.
